Our House Manager brings a big smile on everybody’s face because she’s so good at organising things for us and keeping us all happy. We had a lovely musical night, we all sat watching a video of Andrew Ray and we had our lovely glasses of wine and nibbles.
Living in Exmouth
Built on the estuary where the river Exe flows to the sea, the town of Exmouth first became a fully-fledged holiday resort as far back as the 18th century. The town has over two miles of sandy beach and is a Mecca for all manner of water-sports enthusiasts, from sailors to wind-surfers. Much of the estuary area is part of a protected nature reserve, and provides a perfect environment for birdwatchers, cyclists and walkers - who can also take advantage of the nearby cliff-top pathways which form part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
The attractive town is a historic mix of Victorian and Regency architecture, and easily provides all the markets, shops and services you might need. The planned development is positioned close to full amenities, including two large supermarkets and nearby medical services including a doctors' surgery and dentist.
As well as a fine selection of pubs and bars, there are plenty of notable restaurants, ranging from traditional fish & chips to fine dining - a number of celebrity chefs have set up shop to take advantage of the excellent seafood available.
From May to June Exmouth puts on its own free festival, celebrating food, music, art and theatre. While seafood lovers mustn't miss September's Exmouth Mussel Festival, which celebrates with sumptuous local mussels, seafood and fine wines. Exmouth Railway Station provides regular services to the Beautiful cathedral city of Exeter which takes under half an hour, and the surrounding area is well-served by excellent public transport links.
