You can also visit Odiham Castle on the Basingstoke Canal. It’s a 13th century ruin that showcases the best of the area’s history. Over the years, it has been everything from a hunting lodge to a royal residence, so there’s lots to explore.

Hook has a close-knit community of residents, and events are regularly held at the village’s two halls: Elizabeth Hall and the Community Centre. The village also has a number of local community groups that you can join, including a local theatre group and a ballroom dancing group.

Although Hook is only a village, you’re close to the much larger Basingstoke, which is popular with shoppers and cultural enthusiasts. Festival Place is home to over 200 shops, and the town also has a number of parks, Basingstoke Aquadrome and the Milestones Museum.

Hook’s also a popular location because of the village’s great transport links. Hook has a mainline railway station that can take you directly to Basingstoke and London Waterloo. If you’re travelling by car, you’re close to the M30 and, if you want to travel internationally, Southampton Airport and London Heathrow Airport are both under 40 miles away.
