Basingstoke Canal Hook

RETIREMENT Living in hookDiscover a thriving village with a strong local community From 2011 to 2015, Halifax’s Quality of Life survey voted Hook as the best place to live in the UK. Hook is surrounded by quaint English villages and rolling countryside, and it’s a place that feels quintessentially British. Plus, although it’s growing in size and popularity, Hook is still classed as a village. As a result, it has a close-knit community where it’s easy for you to make new friends.

When you relocate to one of our retirement homes in Hook, you’ll be surrounded by things to see and do. Hook’s famous for its welcoming country pubs, so you’re never far from a good pint and a lovely beer garden.

Nearby, you’ll also find West Green House. The house itself is still a private residence, but you’re free to wander around the impressive gardens that were designed by Marylyn Abbott. They span for over 10 acres and you can expect to enjoy a lake, water features, a woodland glade and Victorian greenhouses.

You can also visit Odiham Castle on the Basingstoke Canal. It’s a 13th century ruin that showcases the best of the area’s history. Over the years, it has been everything from a hunting lodge to a royal residence, so there’s lots to explore.
