Pet Photo competition – we have our winners!

We love well-behaved pets at McCarthy Stone*, so we asked our homeowners and employees to send us cute and quirky images of their amazing animal friends.
We were overwhelmed by the brilliant response, but we had to choose just three.

Our picture purr-fect winners are…

Kevin the budgie

Kevin the budgie (with David Hillman!)

Sent in by Ellen Millar, Catherine Court, Eastleigh

“Kevin is eight in October. He is a free bird.  He is never shut in his cage. He has breakfast with us, he loves toast! In the bathroom he flies around, resting on the sink drinking the tap water when we are cleaning our teeth, he doesn’t miss a trick.

He talks quite a lot saying, “Kevin’s a clever little bird”, “Kevin’s a good boy,” “Darling, where’s David?” When we say, “night, night, Kevin,” he just automatically flies up on his swing for the night. That always amazes me!”

Sasha - McCarthy Stone Pet photography Competition Entry

Very special Sasha

Sent in by Penny Filmer, Stover Court, Newton Abbot

“Sasha is a very special little dog. She is very tiny only, weighing 2kgs and absolutely adores children especially those with “special needs”.  I am hoping to register her as a Therapy Dog next year as she will only be two years old this November.

I returned to England four years ago after living in Zimbabwe. I went out to Rhodesia on a one year nursing contract and stayed for 43 years!  Met my husband and spent many happy years there. I moved into Stover Court three years ago and I love my flat but it has made all the difference sharing it with little Sasha my loving and playful little companion.”

Reuben and Rufus - McCarthy Stone Pet photography Competition Entry

Rueben and Rufus

Sent in by Sarah Haycock, House Manager, Brookes Court, Shropshire

“Rufus and Reuben are a huge part of my life and having had donkeys and ponies for twenty years now, I cannot imagine life without them, and the rest of the menagerie; I include my children collectively!

Although it can be hard work, they bring us great happiness and are a pleasure to look after. What is less pleasurable are the 4 and 5am wake up calls of a braying nature!”

And here is the best of the rest...
