THE LOCAL AREA

Living in Royal Tunbridge Wells

The historic spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells is one of the most popular towns in Kent, retaining much of its original charm and character. One of only three towns in England to be bestowed the 'Royal' tag, Tunbridge Wells was recognised for the honour by King Edward VII in 1909 thanks to its rich history and royal patronage. This is the perfect place to enjoy relaxed afternoons strolling through The Pantiles and browsing local boutiques.

The town centre is less than half a mile from the development and combines specialist shops with larger high street names, creating a great mix of old and new traditions in a pleasant historic setting. Facilities include banks, boutique shops and larger department stores including Fenwicks and Hoopers.

The area has a rich history and has been attracting visitors and tourists since the 17th century when a fresh water spring was discovered on the site. Lovers of culture and entertainment will find plenty to enjoy in Royal Tunbridge Wells, with a fantastic local museum and busy art gallery, as well as a range of theatres featuring a variety of shows from family events to classical music. The Spa Valley Railway also offers a fascinating insight into steam trains and travel. Young family members will love the regular family orientated events that take place throughout the year at the Calverley Grounds gardens.

The Dairy is conveniently located next door to a Tesco Express and close to a local NHS surgery and pharmacy. The local area offers plenty of green spaces. Just a short walk from the development you will find the beautiful St John's recreation ground offering plenty of outdoor space and activities. Within easy reach of the development you'll find a fantastic local bowls club, tennis courts and a croquet lawn. In 2014 the local Calverley Grounds won the national 'in bloom' competition thanks to its beautiful flowers and plants.
