While all McCarthy & Stone properties are cleverly designed to make life easier—with sought-after locations, friendly communities, helpful on-site staff and thoughtful features to support you as you age, we offer a choice of independent living communities—Retirement Living and Retirement Living Plus—with differing levels of services and assisted living facilities to support you now and in the future. Independent living for over 60s
Our beautiful Retirement Living properties are in lovely locations in the heart of the action, with their own on-site manager, communal areas including large gardens with seating, lounges with free wi-fi, guest suites, parking and a buzzing calendar of (entirely optional) social events.
Assisted living for over 70s
Our Retirement Living Plus apartments give you all the benefits of our Retirement Living communities plus more. Thoughtful extra services and assisted living facilities include a subsidised restaurant, staff on-site 24/7 and optional domestic and independent lifestyle support.
A helping hand, tailored to you
Sometimes, a little extra help is all you need to allow you to do the things you want to do and feel part of a community. That’s why all our Retirement Living Plus developments have a brilliant domestic and personal care team on-site every day. You’ll receive one hour of weekly domestic cleaning included in your service charge and, if you need more support, we can help with that too. Our domestic and personal services are available in 15-minute increments, allowing you to tailor your support to suit you. You only ever pay for what you need.

Our retirement villages—another option for supported living
Our retirement villages offer a mix of property types: apartments, retirement bungalows and cottages plus other shared amenities and services such as lounges, gardens and restaurants.
We don’t make a penny from our service charges
Service charges are essential to providing the services people value at our retirement communities—they pay the wages for our managers, plus window cleaners, gardeners and domestic cleaners, as well as for maintenance: keeping the lifts working and the shared areas looking lovely. It may surprise you to learn our services are delivered at cost price.
