Every homeowner dreams of a quick and stress-free sale when they put their property on the market. This is exactly what William Saunders was hoping for when he instructed McCarthy Stone Resales to sell his late mothers’ apartment at Brooklands Court in Long Eaton.
However, due to various uncontrollable factors, the process became even more complicated when the sale of the property collapsed before completion. Thankfully the Resales team were on hand to offer William and his family support. Acting quickly the team were able to remarket the property and secure a new buyer swiftly. Read about William’s journey here:
William’s mother Betty originally purchased the first-floor apartment at Brooklands Court in Long Eaton in 2008. She had moved from the family home in Lancashire three years after her husband passed away. The burden of maintaining a large property had become unmanageable for her and she decided to move closer to her son and his family.
Betty resided at the McCarthy Stone managed development for a little over 10 years. She regularly attended the resident’s coffee morning in the communal lounge, but generally enjoyed the privacy of her own apartment within the secure environment of Brooklands Court.
William said; “With mum living just a short distance away we were able to visit her regularly and it was comforting to know the House Manager was always on hand should she need any assistance.”
Sadly, after suffering a short illness Betty passed away, leaving William the responsibility of selling the one-bedroom apartment.
“We decided that there was no one better to sell my late mothers’ apartment than McCarthy Stone Resales. Although they were not the cheapest, we felt they would be the best people to answer any questions about the property and the development. Given their expertise and understanding of the retirement lifestyle we thought they were by far the most preferable option.”
“We instructed the Resales team in August 2018 and with viewings lined up straight away we were confident we’d find a buyer promptly.”
“Unfortunately, the course of this sale never ran smooth and due to a number of unforeseen circumstances we had two buyers withdraw from the sale. Our Resales Consultant, Georgia and House Manager, Janet were brilliant throughout. They kept us informed with regular updates and ensured the property was remarketed without delay.”
“Despite these issues, as well as a long winter and challenging property market we agreed a sale in the spring of 2019. We were delighted with the resale price achieved and this time the sale went through swiftly without any complications.”
“I have no complaints with using McCarthy Stone Resales. The team were courteous and supportive throughout, helping us to achieve a satisfactory result on the property. I would highly recommend their services to anyone selling a McCarthy Stone managed apartment.”
Commenting on the sale at Brooklands Court Resales Director, David Gabriel said; “Whilst there’s no guarantees with any property sale, it’s worth noting that the vast majority of our agreed sales go through to successful completion. Despite complications within this transaction, we are delighted with the end result we achieved for William and his family– with the property seeing a healthy 23%* price increase on its original sale price.”
