Couple downsize to build a new community in Middlewich

John and Ann have made a real impact since moving to McCarthy Stone’s Roman Court Retirement Living properties for sale in Middlewich.

In December 2021, John and Ann made the decision to downsize from their three-bedroom house but they wanted to remain in the area they’ve called home for over 23 years.

After taking a tour of the show apartments at Roman Court, John and Ann fell in love with the development and were among the first to move in - they’re now a key part of their new community.

John says: “When we looked around Roman Court we were blown away by the luxurious facilities and state-of-the-art apartment, and the fact that we would be moving into a community full of like-minded people really made our decision to downsize that much easier.

“As we were one of the first homeowners to move into Roman Court, it gave us the opportunity to meet our new neighbours as soon as they moved in, so we've developed a lot of new friendships in quite a short space of time.

“We also really enjoy getting involved in activities and events, so we started a committee group with some of the other homeowners where we help organise coffee mornings and games nights - we've even been nominated as spokespeople for the development by the other homeowners, which is a real honour.”

Ann adds: “We have a great social gang here. With the help of the McCarthy Stone team, we’ve started to host a Fish & Chips night once a month as well as Games Night every fortnight. You wouldn’t believe how competitive we all are – it’s great fun.”

In addition to being a support for their neighbours, John and Ann are always on hand to chat to buyers about these properties for sale in Middlewich.

John continues: “We are always happy to show people around the development and answer any questions. Often, we’re asked about the surrounding area and our thoughts. One of the biggest advantages for us is all the great shops we have right on the high street. You wouldn’t believe how nice it is to step out of your front door onto the high street without the need for climbing into your car. It really does make a big difference - and is also great for getting your steps in!”

Ann says: “Downsizing has given us the time to do the things we love most – travelling, daytrips out and about, and making memories with our dear family and friends. But we get just as much of a thrill out of knowing we’re a helpful ear for others considering a move to the development.

“We’re often asked about the moving-in process and hand on heart, our move couldn’t have gone any smoother. When we had found our new apartment, we’d already sold our house, but our buyers needed to move in before the development was complete. This was not an issue to McCarthy Stone, and they were very hospitable in collecting our furniture and putting it up in storage for us free of charge, and the team even part-funded a static caravan which we moved into while the finishing touches were put together to our apartment…We really couldn’t fault the whole process.”

As apartments continue to be snapped up at Roman Court, the couple are looking forward to making plenty more friends. Looking for properties for sale in Middlewich? Book a tour. You might even get to chat with John and Ann!
