Marking the occasion was a special visit from The Worshipful The Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Margaret Bannister, who officially opened the show suite and met the team behind the development. The event attracted significant interest, with more than 75 guests joining the Mayor to celebrate the opening.

Designed to become a valued part of Eastbourne, Harbourside House is about much more than new homes. From the outset, the development has worked with local contractors, suppliers and businesses, helping to support jobs and investment in the area, with more employment opportunities set to follow as the community grows.

The development is located around a 15-minute flat walk from Eastbourne's seafront and Sovereign Harbour North Marina, which offers a range of restaurants, cafés and bars. Eastbourne Beach is also around a 10-minute drive away, providing homeowners with convenient access to local amenities and the surrounding coastline.

The Worshipful The Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Margaret Bannister said:

“It was a pleasure to officially open the Harbourside House show suite and see first-hand the beautifully designed homes and welcoming community taking shape. I’m sure it's fantastic location and thoughtfully designed apartments will make Harbourside House a wonderful addition to Eastbourne, helping more people enjoy independent living while remaining connected to everything the town has to offer.”

Visitors to the new show suite can now experience first-hand what life at Harbourside House will be like. The apartments have been thoughtfully designed to make everyday living easier without compromising on comfort or style, while the shared spaces have been created to bring people together naturally – whether that's over a morning coffee, a chat with neighbours or taking part in one of the community activities.

Rebecca Johnson, Sales & Marketing Director at McCarthy & Stone, said:

“We're thrilled to see Harbourside House opening its doors in Eastbourne. It offers high-quality homes designed specifically for later life, giving homeowners the opportunity to maintain their independence with the reassurance of thoughtful design, dedicated on-site support and a low-maintenance lifestyle."

Interest in Harbourside House has remained strong since launch, with nearly half of apartments reserved at the development. As the community grows, homeowners are expected to make a positive contribution to the local economy by supporting nearby cafés, shops and local services.

For added peace of mind, a House Manager will be on-site during office hours to oversee the day-to-day running of the development, while a 24/7 emergency call system and camera entry system in each apartment will help homeowners feel safe and secure.
