This external accreditation from Great Place to Work UK is given to companies with an exceptional workplace culture. We received the award based on feedback from 1,777 employees from across the company who took part in our first full Great Place to Work survey.

Why is being a Great Place to Work important to us?

Our purpose is to champion the role, wellbeing and happiness of older people in society.

We can’t realise this purpose without also being committed to the happiness and wellbeing of all the brilliant people who work within the business. This accreditation shows we are on the right track, although we will still work hard to make improvements where needed.

Our employee survey highlights 

  • People feel respected and fairly treated by their line managers. They feel trusted to get on with their job, and that they can approach their manager to discuss issues. 
  • Over 90% of our employees told us that, whether they are office-based, work in our retirement communities or are on a construction site, they feel McCarthy Stone is a physically safe place to work. This is particularly reassuring given the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.   
  • Our employees feel a lot of pride in what they do. They feel their job has meaning, and that they make a difference in their role.
  • It came as no surprise to us that our teams are clearly very passionate about championing older people and the difference McCarthy Stone makes to our customers’ lives.
