Things to do in Wellingborough
On the banks of the River Nene, Wellingborough is a traditional market town with medieval roots. The Anglo-Saxons originally named it ‘Wendelingburgh’ but the name Wellingborough comes from the five wells, including Witche's Well and Lady's Well, that surround it. They all feature on the town’s coat of arms.
Despite being a small town there’s plenty to do. Close to the woodlands and waterways of Swanspool Brook, you’ll find attractions including the 15th century Tithe Barn, Wellingborough Museum and The Castle Theatre. On the site of the old Cattle Market this hosts professional theatre companies and also a cinema.
You’ll find sports facilities and classes like Walking Netball at Redwell Leisure Centre, which is less than 15 minutes’ walk from our new retirement living community. Other options for an active retirement include Waendal Leisure centre which has a swimming pool, Wellingborough Bowls Club and Wellingborough Golf Club.
And, if you’re in need a of a bit of retail therapy you’ll find all the major high street names in or around the Swansgate shopping centre. There’s a popular outdoor market three days a week too.
This senior living housing is well served by transport links with regular bus services and frequent trains connecting Wellingborough to the rest of the UK.
- Conveniently situated close to these local amenities:
- Co-op 0.5 miles
