The money is used to pay for services that benefit the whole community, including wages for the wonderful on-site team – the managers, gardeners, cleaners and everyone who keeps the communal spaces welcoming and well-maintained as well as lights and heating in the shared spaces. This is reviewed annually, and everything is clearly explained so there are no hidden fees or nasty surprises.
If you choose to rent your retirement apartment, your service charge is paid for by your landlord.
