Gravesend offers a variety of activities for residents and visitors alike. For those who enjoy scenic walks, the Riverside Leisure Area is perfect for taking in views of the Thames. The town also has plenty of shopping and dining options, as well as a bustling market that has been operating since 1268. The Cyclopark provides outdoor enthusiasts with cycling tracks and fitness trails. Additionally, cultural experiences abound, with events held throughout the year, including festivals, theatre performances, and live music.

The town’s landmarks include Gravesend Town Pier, Royal Terrace Pier and Gravesend Clock Tower and perhaps surprisingly the town is the place that Pocahontas died, aged just 22 in 1617, a fact that is commemorated with a statue. Gravesend has one of the oldest markets in the country dating from 1268. And New Tavern Fort, built during the 1780s, is a great place to visit, with artillery on display and a network of underground tunnels to explore. Gravesend is also home to the Guru Nanak Temple – the largest Sikh Temple in Europe.
