Originally a 14th century fishing settlement it was called Broadstairs after a flight of steps were carved into the cliff to give access to a holy shrine. The town is now known for its charming coastal appeal, with its popular Dickens Festival celebrating the town’s connection to Charles Dickens. The Broadstairs Food Festival draws foodies from all over, and you can enjoy sea views while walking along the Viking Coastal Trail. For those who love the arts, the Palace Cinema and regular craft fairs add to the town’s vibrant cultural scene.
