Leading retirement housebuilder, McCarthy Stone, recently welcomed a group of year 3 children to the site of its forthcoming Milward Place Retirement Living development on Clive Road in Redditch.

Pupils from Holyoakes Field First School donned hard hats and high-visibility jackets to take a closer look at the building works underway and to learn all about the importance of staying safe on a construction site. Under the close supervision of McCarthy Stone Site Manager Graham Campbell, the children were even able to get involved with a bit of brick laying!

The visit was organised by McCarthy Stone as a practical and fun way of connecting with a younger audience to reinforce site safety messages, and to promote all that is positive about the construction and housebuilding industry.

Mrs Newton, head teacher at Holyoakes Field First School, commented: “The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Milward Place. We’re grateful to the McCarthy Stone team for inviting us to come down. Everyone found it enjoyable and informative, and it was great to get the children thinking about safety in and around building sites in such an engaging way.”

Clare Bright, Regional Managing Director for McCarthy Stone West Midlands, comments: “At McCarthy Stone, health and safety is always at the forefront of all our minds. A number of the children live near the site, and it is vital that they understand how to play safely in the community. The children were all interested in taking a look at the machinery and we did our best to show them how great it is to work on a construction site – perhaps it will even act as an incentive for some of them to consider construction as a career when they’re older!”

Set to welcome its first homeowners in October 2019, the Milward Place Retirement Living development will eventually comprise a stylish collection of 45 one and two-bedroom luxury apartments for the over 60s.

The development will feature a homeowners’ lounge ideal for socialising with friends, beautifully landscaped gardens, an on-site car park, and a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay. A House Manager will take care of the smooth-running of the development; while a security entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points will provide added peace-of-mind.

Future homeowners will benefit from easy access to local amenities, including shopping centres, independent shops and restaurants. Good transport links by road and rail also allow an easy escape to the country or the possibility to Birmingham and beyond.

Apartments at Milward Place will be available to buy and rent off-plan, contact the sales team for more information.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 13 years’ running. McCarthy Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade, which is every year the awards have been run.
