Our generous Cheshire retirement community pulled out the stops for St Lukes
Homeowners and staff at Roman Court, our Retirement Living development in Middlewich, Cheshire, have raised over £900 for St Luke’s Hospice, thanks to a fundraising event that brought together local people and businesses.
The event, held as part of the hospice’s Care for a Cuppa campaign, featured an afternoon of activities including a raffle, tombola and a stand selling pre-loved costume jewellery. Homeowners also displayed their baking talents with a delicious selection of beautifully decorated homemade cakes.
“It was a real team effort,” said Gillian, a homeowner from Roman Court, who helped organise the event. “We had such fun baking cakes, setting up the stalls, and chatting with everyone. Knowing that we’ve helped St Luke’s provide care for people who really need it makes it all worthwhile.”
And the wider community in Middlewich were wonderful too…
Locals and Roman Court homeowners donated over 20 raffle prizes to the cause. Prizes included bottles of brandy, prosecco, and whisky, a cheese and wine hamper, luxury toiletries, handmade gin and tonic gift sets, and more. Local businesses also stepped up to support the cause.
“We were overwhelmed by the generosity of the Middlewich community,” adds Joanne, the House Manager at Roman Court. “From our homeowners and staff to the local businesses who donated so generously, everyone came together to support a cause that means so much to us all here at Roman Court.”
The event raised over £900 – enough to fund the care of 18 people for a day at St Luke's Day Hospice.

St Luke’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care across Cheshire and relies heavily on fundraising and donations to be able carry out its important work.

We rely so much on local fundraising, so every penny really does count.”
