The UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, McCarthy Stone, has announced a raft of senior level promotions in the Midlands, to support the Group’s long term growth strategy and its ongoing expansion in the region.

Darren Humphreys, current Regional Managing Director for the West Midlands, has been promoted to a new role of Central Divisional Managing Director. Additionally, Martin Edwards, the Group’s current Development Director for the West Midlands, will be promoted to Deputy Regional Managing Director for the region; and Matt Wills, current Land Director for the East Midlands, will be promoted to Deputy Regional Managing Director, for the East Midlands.

Commenting on the appointments, Clive Fenton, Chief Executive Officer of McCarthy Stone said:  “These new roles will help us to focus and manage our growing business, and ensure we run an efficient operation at scale. It reflects the investment and infrastructure we are putting in place to grow the business quickly and support the near doubling in sales releases in FY18 compared to FY17. It will also help ensure we achieve our dual targets of becoming the first housebuilder to build and sell more than 3,000 retirement properties a year and investing £2.5 billion in land over four financial years to FY19.

“Darren, Martin and Matt’s promotions to these newly created roles will help to ensure internal development and facilitate the long-term succession planning within the Group.”

McCarthy Stone’s West Midlands region currently has a portfolio of 25 developments selling or under construction and, due to its ongoing growth and expansion, it is gearing up to launch a large number of new developments over the next year. Each individual development will be carefully designed to suit the requirements of older people, offering homeowners the very best in independent living within a safe and secure environment.

McCarthy Stone’s East Midlands region currently has a portfolio of 17 developments selling or under construction and, due to its ongoing growth and expansion into new geographical areas such as Norwich, it is gearing up to release many new developments later this year and eight in 2018.

Commenting on his promotion, Darren Humphreys, said: “This is an incredibly exciting time to be a part of McCarthy Stone. The UK has a rapidly ageing population, with the number of people aged 65 or over set to increase by 50% in the next two decades. There is an urgent need to provide high quality housing that meets the needs of older people and I am proud to be playing a role in meeting this critical housing need.”
