Homeowners at McCarthy Stone’s Williams Place Retirement Living Plus development in Great Western Park recently joined forces with Aureus School to create mosaics based on the school motto ‘Nurturing Hearts and Minds’.

Over the past year, Students and homeowners at Williams Place have designed and created three large mosaics, with the help of local artist, Clare Goodall.  The mosaics were designed to reflect Aureus School’s values and motto, representing the importance of nurturing the hearts and minds of the whole child.

Laura Bainbrigge, Lead Practitioner of Art at Aureus School, commented: “Our students loved sharing their artistic ideas and designing the mosaics, with the help of Clare Goodall and the homeowners from Williams Place. The homeowners were very encouraging and hardworking, and the students have learnt a lot from the time spent working together.”

Artist Clare Goodall added: “It was a great to have the opportunity to work with the students at Aureus School and the homeowners at Williams Place.  It is always exciting to work on projects that bring the community together to build lasting relationships and I am thrilled with how the mosaics turned out.  They look fantastic on the building and I hope they will help to build an even stronger sense of identity for the school.”

Ciara Hilley, Divisional Marketing Manager for McCarthy Stone, said: “The mosaic making has been a huge success and it is great to see the mosaics displayed at Aureus School. The homeowners enjoyed meeting the students and showing their artistic flair, and it has been an extremely rewarding project for everyone involved.

“Partnerships such as this give us the chance to showcase the sense of community and companionship all retirees can enjoy here at Williams Place, and to provide people with an insight into the lives homeowners enjoy at the development.”

Comprising a selection of one and two bedroom Retirement Living Plus apartments, exclusively designed for people aged 70 and over, Williams Place provides everything homeowners could want for a relaxing retirement.

The development features a luxurious communal lounge and there is also a restaurant serving freshly prepared meals daily for those who do not wish to cook in their apartments.

Bridging the gap between conventional retirement living and residential care, an Estates Manager along with an experienced team are on hand day or night to oversee the running of the development, and to provide tailored domestic support packages to suit individual needs.

Located within the thriving community of Great Western Park, homeowners at Williams Place can make the most of the local amenities, which include a supermarket and shopping parade with a coffee shop, dentist and takeaways, plus a pub and community centre.
