The Mayor of Beccles Town Council, Andrea Carr, donned a hard hat last week to help break the ground at McCarthy Stone’s latest Retirement Living development on Gosford Road in Beccles.

The VIP guest joined McCarthy Stone’s Area Sales Manager, Andrea Shaw, to take a closer look at development plans and mark the start of construction.

The new development will comprise a mix of 23 one, two and three bedroom bungalows and 2 coach houses, exclusively for those aged 55 and over. The properties will be available to reserve off plan in April 2020, with first occupations expected in October 2020.

In addition, the new development will feature 55 one and two bedroom apartments. These will be available to reserve off plan from September 2020, with the first homeowners collecting the keys in April 2021.

Mrs Carr commented: “It was a pleasure to visit the site of McCarthy Stone’s new development in Beccles to mark the start of construction. It was a good opportunity to meet the site manager and hear first-hand about the developer’s newest retirement community, which will help to meet the housing needs of retirees in Beccles and the surrounding areas.”

Aimed at those who want to live their retirement years to the full in a low maintenance bungalow, the development will be ideal for those who want to ‘lock-up and leave’. Offering total peace of mind, the Management Scheme will include a comprehensive security system – with camera entry and security lighting – along with maintenance of the landscaped gardens and bungalows.

Located just a short walk from the town centre, the development is ideally situated for easy access to Beccles’ amenities, including the famous market square, a variety of shops and eateries. The town, known locally for its historic buildings and its strong community spirit, hosts many community events on the River Waveney, such as the Duck Race, the Late Night Christmas Event and Beccles Carnival. There are also excellent public transport links to Norwich, Lowestoft and further afield.

Samantha Watkins, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy Stone, commented: “We are delighted Mrs Carr was able to take the time to visit our Beccles site.

“McCarthy Stone is committed to designing flexible homes which allow people to make the most of their retirement years, so it was great to be able to showcase the plans for some of the high quality bungalows that will eventually be available at this new development in Beccles.”

More than 90 percent of customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the maximum Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 14 years’ running.  It is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 14 years, which is every year since the awards have been running.
