Southampton locals recently joined residents at The Boathouse Retirement Living development on Riverdene Place in Bitterne Park to get into the Christmas spirit at an exclusive free festive event.

Those who came along were treated to mouth-watering mince pies and a warming glass or two of mulled wine, all whilst enjoying a sparkling showcase by the St Denys Primary School choir, who performed live renditions of festive favourites and Christmas carols.

The event was part of McCarthy Stone’s series of ‘At Home’ events, which are happening at selected developments across the UK throughout December, and have been inspired by the social tradition of days gone-by that sees friends and family gather at home to celebrate the festive season. Everyone who attended also had the opportunity to take a tour of The Boathouse, meet with current residents, and find out more about the lifestyle that McCarthy Stone offers.

Geoff Bates, Head of Marketing at McCarthy Stone South, comments: “Everyone who came along to our ‘At Home’ event had a wonderful time. It was a great opportunity for locals to see for themselves what a close-knit and supportive community we have here at The Boathouse, whilst getting into the festive spirit.

“I’d like to thank the pupils from St Denys Primary School for their brilliant performance and helping to get our festive season off to a fantastic start!”

Comprising a selection of 50 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments, exclusively designed for people aged 60 and over, The Boathouse provides everything residents could want for a relaxing retirement.

The development features a communal lounge, ideal for socialising with friends, landscaped gardens, and a convenient guest suite should residents have friends or family to stay. Additional benefits include an experienced House Manager who oversees the day to day running of The Boathouse and 24-hour emergency call systems for added peace-of-mind.

The Boathouse is set within a small but thriving community. Local amenities are can be found directly opposite the development on Bitterne Park Triangle where there is a local bakers, supermarket, dry cleaners, various takeaways and convenience stores. There is also a bus stop directly outside, providing regular services to Southampton city centre and neighbouring areas such as St Denys, Bitterne, Portswood and Eastleigh.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 14 years’ running.  McCarthy Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 14 consecutive years, which is every year the awards have been run.
