The UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, McCarthy Stone, recently invited Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service to perform a mock crane rescue at its new Retirement Living development, Greenhaven, which is currently under construction in Penn Hill, Poole.
Organised by McCarthy Stone Senior Site Manager, Jeff Blackman, the exercise provided firefighters from the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service with a realistic training scenario for potential situations relating to tower cranes on building sites.
The crane has been erected to enable construction of the development, which will eventually comprise a collection of Retirement Living apartments exclusively for the over 60’s.
Mark Downing from the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “In the event that a rescue situation arises involving a crane, it is incredibly important that we can act quickly to secure the safety of workers on site.
“Mock rescue activities such as this are incredibly valuable, providing our crews with an opportunity to practice in a real life setting, yet with the support of being in a safe and controlled environment. We would like to thank McCarthy Stone for facilitating the session, which proved a real success.”
Jeff Blackman, Senior Site Manager at Greenhaven, Penn Hill added: “McCarthy Stone is dedicated to prioritising health and safety on site, as part of our ongoing commitment to delivering five star service and quality across every area of the business. Supporting the training of local emergency service teams is of utmost importance when it comes to creating a safe environment for our site workers, and we were pleased to assist with the mock rescue.”
Properties at Greenhaven are expected to be released for off plan sales in March 2020 and the first homeowners will be welcomed in summer 2020.
McCarthy Stone Retirement Living developments are designed to bring together a community of like-minded people desiring a premium lifestyle.
Greenhaven will comprise a mix of one, two and three-bed apartments, featuring spacious living areas, ample storage space and high specification kitchens and bathrooms. The majority of apartments above ground floor level will feature a walk out balcony, and those at ground floor level will have a private patio area. The apartments will be split between two buildings and joined by a contemporary glass walkway, from which residents will be able to admire the beautifully landscaped communal garden. A stylish outdoor courtyard area will also extend from a luxurious communal lounge at the development’s heart.
The running of the development will be overseen by the House Manager, who will be available during office hours. For added peace of mind, there will be a 24-hour call system and a camera entry system at the communal front entrance. To ensure accessibility throughout, there will be lifts to all floors.
McCarthy Stone customers in Penn Hill can also choose from a range of flexible retirement solutions to suit them and their personal circumstances, whether they prefer to rent at Greenhaven, buy outright, or take advantage of a part buy, part rent option.
Penn Hill is conveniently located between the two coastal towns of Poole and Bournemouth. The beach is only 1.9 miles away, and can be easily accessed from Greenhaven.
