McCarthy Stone, the house builder behind the Tumbling Weir Court Retirement Living development in Ottery St Mary, has donated £500 to local charity, the Ottery Help Scheme.

The Ottery Help Scheme offers much-needed support to local residents in times of illness or during a period of life-changing circumstances. The donation by McCarthy Stone will be used to fund the charity’s ‘Befriending Service’, which arranges for volunteers to visit those in the area who are looking for company and companionship, in addition to providing a telephone service and friendship groups.

Emily Lezzeri, Chief Officer at Ottery Help Scheme, commented: “At Ottery Help Scheme, we are dedicated to supporting the local community as much as we can. Just talking to another person during the course of the day can raise spirits and help people feel connected, which is why our Befriending Services are so important.

“However, in order for us to offer the best service we can, we are dependent on the support of others, which is why we are absolutely thrilled to have received £500 from McCarthy Stone, and we can’t thank them enough.”
Geoff Bates, Head of Marketing for McCarthy Stone South, commented: “An important part of what we do here at McCarthy Stone is support initiatives in the towns and communities in which we build to help create a lasting, positive legacy.

“It was an absolute pleasure to present this donation to the team at Ottery Help Scheme. All of us here at McCarthy Stone in Ottery St Mary wish them every success with their work in helping to improve lives of so many within the community.”

Designed for the over 60s, Tumbling Weir Court will feature a communal lounge, which will be perfect for socialising with new neighbours. A hotel-style guest suite will be available for visiting family and friends. A House Manager takes care of the day-to-day running of Tumbling Weir Court, while a secure entry system and 24 hour emergency call system provided added peace-of-mind.

Situated in the beautiful riverside market town of Ottery St. Mary, Tumbling Weir Court is ideally placed for easy access to a host of local amenities, including a supermarket, post office, a number of independent shops and leisure centre; and there are good transport links to surrounding towns and villages.

McCarthy Stone is giving retirees the opportunity to live their retirement years to the full, by offering up to £5,000 off or one month’s rent free* on selected apartments.

The incentive, from the leading manager and developer of retirement communities, is available for eligible buyers and renters at Tumbling Weir Court on properties 12 and 23 who reserve before 29th February 2020*.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 14 years’ running.  McCarthy Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 14 consecutive years, which is every year the awards have been run.
