After spending five years as professional house sitters, Heather and Brian Lockwood knew a thing or two about homes. So when it came to choosing a manageable property in which to enjoy their later years, they were clear about what they wanted – a spacious, well designed apartment in a secure environment that would suit both the active couple, who are both in their seventies, and Heather’s 90 year old mother Vera.
Heather explained “We were living in a three bedroom detached bungalow in Attleborough and, although the property was still manageable for us, we decided to move to somewhere that offered more support ready for when we needed it. We had seen a number of McCarthy Stone developments on our travels and had always been very impressed, so when Edwards Court opened we went to look round straight away and ended up being the very first people to move in!
“My mother Vera has lived with us for the last 20 years so we needed somewhere that would suit us all. Edwards Court was ideal as it offered us space, low maintenance and a welcoming community of like-minded people. Brian and I still enjoy our holidays and weekends away and it gives us real peace of mind to know that we are leaving Mum safe and secure, in the comfort of her own home, with people around to look out for her.”
Heather says the family also love the gardens as well as the communal lounge where the couple recently celebrated both their golden wedding anniversary and Vera’s 90th birthday with other residents.
The location of the development was also a key factor in the couple’s decision to buy there. Heather continues: “Both our son and daughter live locally and we regularly help out with our grandchildren, so it was important to us that we stayed in Attleborough. Edwards Court is in a superb location close to local amenities and, although we still have a car that we use regularly, it was really important to us to be able to walk to the shops or doctors surgery. Both the development and the apartment itself ticked every box and we are very happy here.”
