McCarthy Stone, the housebuilder behind the Rosebud Court Retirement Living development on Westfield Road in Wellingborough, has donated a buddy bench to the children at the neighbouring Freeman’s Endowed C.E Junior Academy in order to help foster friendship outside of the classroom.
The brightly-coloured bench, which is now positioned in the playground, is intended to promote positive mental wellbeing, by giving pupils a special place where they can go if they are looking for a companion.
Ms Wallis-O’Dell, Head Teacher at Freeman’s Endowed C.E Junior Academy, commented: “Supporting the emotional wellbeing of our children is central to our school values. By having a buddy bench in the playground our children can be there for each other when someone needs to talk or find someone to play with. We are delighted with the bench and extremely grateful to McCarthy Stone for their kind donation.”
Cheryl Bissett, Regional Sales and Marketing Director at McCarthy Stone East Midlands, said: “We are delighted that Freeman’s Endowed C.E Junior Academy are enjoying their buddy bench. We understand how important it is for people of any age to feel a sense of belonging, and to have a friend they can turn to when they feel the need to talk.
“One our homeowners at Rosebud Court, Carole Thomas, has a granddaughter in Year 4 of the school, and she was thrilled to hear that we were showing our support for the children in this way. We hope everyone at Freeman’s Endowed C.E Junior Academy continue to develop long-lasting friendships from the bench.”
Rosebud Court features a collection of 45 privately-owned one and two-bedroom apartments exclusively for those aged 60 and over. The stylish gated development is over 70% sold, priced from £159,950 for a one bedroom apartment and £219,950 for a two-bedroom apartment.
McCarthy Stone’s Retirement Living developments offer homeowners the opportunity to benefit from companionship when they want it and privacy when needed. At Rosebud Court there is a homeowners’ lounge, which is ideal for socialising with new-found friends and neighbours, and a guest suite, should friends or relatives wish to stay.
Rosebud Court also benefits from a House Manager, who is on hand to ensure the smooth running of the development, organise community events and activities, and provide support to homeowners. A range of security and support services are also available, including 24-hour emergency call points which provide peace-of-mind for homeowners and their families.
More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 14 years’ running. McCarthy Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 14 years, which is every year the awards have been run.
