Two employees from McCarthy Stone, the developer behind the new Sycamore Court Retirement Living Plus development on Filey Road, participated in the Sunrise Walk organised by Saint Catherine’s Hospice

Cate Palmer, Area Sales Manager at McCarthy Stone, and Camilla Tite, Sales Consultant at Sycamore Court, both took part in the walk on behalf of the company, who donated £3,000 to Saint Catherine’s Hospice as the main sponsor of the event.

The walk started at Saint Catherine’s main hospice site on Throxenby Lane at 6am, with a 6.5-mile circular route around both North and South Bays, giving walkers the opportunity to experience the beautiful Scarborough sunrise, while remembering loved ones and raising essential funds for Saint Catherine’s.

Saint Catherine’s provides care and support for adults with a terminal illness, as well as their families, carers and friends. The charity provides specialist palliative care to patients who have highly complex needs with nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, bereavement counsellors, social workers, complementary therapists and spiritual care offered as part of the service. All areas of Saint Catherine’s work are supported by a highly dedicated team of volunteers.

Liz Green, Regional Sales and Marketing Director at McCarthy Stone North East, commented: “At McCarthy Stone, we are always looking for ways to engage with the local community and help to contribute to worthwhile causes. The Sunrise Walk is an important calendar date for Scarborough residents, with hundreds participating every year to raise money for Saint Catherine’s Hospice.

“I would like to say a congratulations to Cate and Camilla for participating on behalf of McCarthy Stone, and managing the early morning wake-up! The work that the hospice carries out is vital service to the community and we are proud to be associated with such an important organisation.”

Situated on Filey Road, Sycamore Court comprises of a selection of 54 one and two bedroom Retirement Living Plus apartments, exclusively designed for people aged 70 and over. Located along the picturesque Yorkshire Coast, Scarborough is a popular holiday destination thanks to its long history, beautiful beaches and range of fun community events. It is thought to be the world’s first seaside town, dating back to the 1600s, and its 11th century castle sits atop a high rocky promontory that boasts panoramic views over the dramatic Yorkshire coastline, perfect for homeowners with a historical interest or enjoy stunning scenery.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 14 years’ running.  McCarthy Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 14 years, which is every year the awards have been run.
