The UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities, McCarthy Stone, is seeking a charity to support in Malpas as its new Retirement Living development, The Cedars, begins to take shape.

Currently under construction on Old Hall Street, the new development will comprise a selection of luxury one and two bedroom apartments, designed exclusively for the over 60s.

Following McCarthy Stone’s appeal for a charity, neighbourhood project or one-off community event to support, local groups and good causes are urged to get in touch by emailing requests to [email protected] by midnight on Friday 21st February.  Applicants are encouraged to include ‘Malpas Community Appeal’ in the subject header and to detail the reasons why they would benefit from a donation of up to £500.

Fiona Brooks, divisional sales director at McCarthy Stone, comments: “Our fundamental aim when creating a development is to support and integrate McCarthy Stone and our future residents into the local community. Our developments are created with community in mind, and supporting charities or neighbourhood projects allows us to create a positive legacy.

“We look forward to reviewing the applications from groups in Malpas, and to further cement our ties with the area, by supporting worthwhile causes which are making a real difference to local lives.”

McCarthy Stone’s Retirement Living developments offer residents the opportunity to downsize and maintain an active and independent lifestyle. When complete, the new development will comprise of two one-bedroom apartments and 19 two-bedroom apartments which will be released for sale in spring 2020 with the first residents taking occupation in autumn 2020.

As with every McCarthy Stone Retirement Living development, a close-knit community feel is encouraged with sociable communal spaces so residents can get to know their neighbours. Safety and security is provided with an on-site House Manager, as well as a camera entry system and intruder alarms in all apartments. A 24-hour call system also gives residents peace-of-mind in their home.

Malpas is a village located in south west Cheshire which offers the best of both worlds, a small inclusive community feel while only being a short journey to the hustle and bustle of city life in Chester and Liverpool.  The development is within walking distance of Malpas high street and a range of amenities including restaurants, pubs, a post office and a pharmacy.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 14 years’ running.  McCarthy Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 14 consecutive years, which is every year the awards have been run.
