McCarthy Stone, the retirement developer behind the Retirement Living development currently under construction in Cambourne, has given Light Up Cambourne a boost with a £500 donation to support the Christmas lights.
The Christmas Light Switch On saw locals get into the festive spirit with seasonal food, a Santa’s grotto and live performances from local bands, with the Christmas lights being switched on by the winners of the children’s fancy dress competition.
Tim Willett, Chairman, at Light Up Cambourne said: “Financial support from local organisations is vital in enabling us to hold our popular community events. We are very grateful to McCarthy Stone for its generous donation which has allow us to host a memorable and enjoyable Christmas light switch on for all.”
Samantha Watkins, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy Stone, commented: “The Cambourne Christmas lights switch on brought the community together for Christmas, and it was great to be a part of the celebrations. We are pleased to be able to play a part in this year’s festivities and we hope the lights will get everyone into the Christmas spirit.
“We’re very much looking forward to becoming an integrated part of the community in Cambourne as we prepare for the opening of our new development next year.”
Once complete, the development will comprise of a collection of luxury Retirement Living apartments for the over 60s, offering retirees the opportunity to downsize and maintain an active, independent lifestyle, surrounded by like-minded individuals.

A dedicated House Manager will take care of the day-to-day running of the development; while a secure entry system and 24-hour emergency call points will provide added peace-of-mind.
