Mayor of Thatcham, Councillor Mike Cole, donned a hard hat last week to help break the ground at
McCarthy Stone’s latest Retirement developments on The Moors in Thatcham.

The VIP guest joined McCarthy Stone’s Area Sales Manager Elaine Mill, Site Manager Josh Robinson and Senior Site Manager, Clive Allen to take a closer look at plans for each development and mark the start of construction.

The new McCarthy Stone project will consist of two different developments, one which will be Retirement Living, and the other will be a Retirement Living Plus. Each development will comprise of one and two-bed apartments, which will be available to reserve off plan in summer 2020, with first occupations expected in autumn 2020.

Councillor Mike Cole commented: “It was a pleasure to visit the sites of McCarthy Stone’s new developments in Thatcham to mark the start of construction. It was a good opportunity to meet the site managers and hear first-hand about the housebuilder’s latest plans to help meet the needs of retirees in Thatcham and our surrounding areas.”

McCarthy Stone’s forthcoming Retirement Living development in Thatcham will provide everything the over 60s could want for an enjoyable and independent retirement. The social lounge will be perfect for socialising with new neighbours, and residents will be able to make the most of the landscaped gardens knowing all the maintenance is taken care of. A House Manager will take care of the day-to-day running of the Retirement Living development, while secure entry systems and 24-hour emergency call points will provide added peace-of-mind.

The Retirement Living Plus development, which has been exclusively designed for the over 70s, will provide all the same features and facilities, as well as being managed by trained Estates team who will be on hand 24 hours a day. What’s more, retirees will also have access to flexible domestic and personalised care packages which can be tailored to provide varying levels of support. Retirement Living Plus developments also benefit from a bistro restaurant serving freshly prepared meals daily.

Geoff Bates, Head of Marketing at McCarthy Stone South, comments: “We are delighted Councillor Mike Cole was able to take the time to visit our Thatcham sites.

“McCarthy Stone is committed to designing flexible homes which allow people to make the most of their retirement years, so it was great to be able to showcase the plans for some of the high quality apartments that will eventually be available at the new developments in Thatcham.”

Future residents will benefit from the development’s excellent location, which is within close proximity of a variety of local amenities, including supermarkets, local butchers, banks, restaurants, a fitness centre and a pharmacy. Thatcham also has great transport links to Reading, Maidenhead and Slough, with regular connecting services to travel further afield.
