Mayor of Swindon, Councillor Kevin Parry, donned a hard hat last week to help break the ground at McCarthy Stone’s latest Retirement Living Plus development on Lowry Way in Swindon.

The VIP guest joined McCarthy Stone’s Marketing Executive Verity McKay, Senior Site Manager Paul Marshall and Sales Consultant Liz Griffin to take a closer look at development plans and mark the start of construction.

The new development will comprise a mix of one and two-bed apartments exclusively designed for the over 70s. Apartments will be available to reserve off plan in summer 2020, with first occupations expected in early 2021.

Councillor Kevin Parry commented: “It was a pleasure to visit the site of McCarthy Stone’s new development in Swindon to mark the start of construction. It was a good opportunity to meet the site manager and hear first-hand about the housebuilder’s latest Retirement Living Plus development which will help to meet the housing needs of retirees in Swindon and the surrounding areas.”

Once complete, the development will feature a Club Lounge, ideal for socialising with newfound friends; a Guest Suite for when homeowners have visitors to stay; and beautifully maintained gardens.  An Estates Manager will take care of the day-to-day running of the development, while secure entry systems and 24-hour emergency call points will provide added peace-of-mind.

Geoff Bates, Head of Marketing at McCarthy Stone South, comments: “We are delighted Councillor Kevin Parry was able to take the time to visit our Swindon site.

“McCarthy Stone is committed to designing flexible homes which allow people to make the most of their retirement years, so it was great to be able to showcase the plans for some of the high quality apartments that will eventually be available at this new development in Swindon.”

Just a short drive away from the development is the heart of Swindon Old Town, which is home to plenty of cultural, leisure, shopping and social activities. These include the Swindon Museum & Art Gallery and Swindon Central Library, as well as an array of live music, comedy and open mic nights at the Victoria for something a little different. In addition, there are also a variety of sporting events and activities close to the development, such as Broome Manor golf course, as well as woods, parks, playgrounds and fields, making it ideal for regular strolls and visiting family and friends.

Retirees who are interested in finding out more about the new Retirement Living Plus development are invited to an exclusive Discovery Day at the Swindon Marriott Hotel on Friday 29th November, with three drop in sessions available at 10.30am, 12pm and 1.30pm. Those who attend will be able to take a look at plans, apartment specifications and guide pricing for the forthcoming development.

More than 90 percent of customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the maximum Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 14 years’ running.  It is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 14 years, which is every year since the awards have been running.
