A new residential community in Chalkwell has officially opened, bringing new opportunities for independent living and strengthening local connections within the neighbourhood. Homeowners, family and members of the team gathered to celebrate the official opening of Laburnums alongside the Mayor of Southend-on-Sea, Councillor Nigel Folkard, who attended the event as guest of honour.
The event provided the first opportunity for many of the new homeowners at Laburnums, to celebrate their community together. Guests were welcomed with refreshments as residents, local representatives and the development team came together to mark the occasion.
Located in a sought-after spot overlooking the greenery of Chalkwell Park, Laburnums offers a peaceful setting while remaining close to local amenities and the wider Southend area. The development comprises 27 one- and two-bedroom apartments, thoughtfully designed to support everyday ease while helping residents remain connected to the local community.
During the event, guests had the opportunity to explore the apartments and shared spaces, gaining an insight into the design features that make everyday life at Laburnums both practical and enjoyable. The gathering also offered a chance for neighbours to meet one another and begin building the sense of community that the development has been designed to encourage.
With homeowners already beginning to settle in, the development is quickly establishing itself as a welcoming new addition to the Chalkwell neighbourhood, offering residents the opportunity to enjoy modern homes in a tranquil setting overlooking one of the area’s most loved green spaces.
Beyond the homes themselves, the development has also contributed to the local area through the use of regional contractors and suppliers, with ongoing roles supporting the long-term management of the community and continued engagement with local services and amenities.
Rebecca Johnson, Group Sales & Marketing Director at McCarthy & Stone, commented:
Laburnums has been designed to feel like a natural part of the Chalkwell community from the very beginning. It’s about giving people the opportunity to enjoy independent living in a beautiful setting, while staying close to the places and connections that matter most to them. We’re delighted to see the community open its doors and begin welcoming homeowners.
For added peace of mind, a House Manager will be on-site during office hours to oversee the day-to-day running of the development, while a 24/7 emergency call system and camera entry system in each apartment will help homeowners feel safe and secure.
