McCarthy Stone, the developer behind the Goldwyn House Retirement Living Plus development on Studio Way in Borehamwood, has donated £250 to Guide Dogs UK, Welwyn Garden City Mobility Team

With nearly 63,000 people registered blind or partly sighted across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, the Welwyn Garden City mobility team works with 180 guide dog owners to help those in need to live a full live and contribute to the community.

McCarthy Stone’s Sales Consultant, Brooke Amos presented Siobhan Meade, Engagement Officer at the Welwyn Garden City Mobility Team with a cheque for £250, which will be used to support over 200 guide dog owners across the three counties.

Engagement Officer Siobhan Meade said: “We are very grateful to McCarthy Stone for its generous donation. The Welwyn Garden City Mobility Team works tirelessly across the region to support people who are blind or visually impaired. We rely solely on the generosity of local people and businesses, so securing this donation from McCarthy Stone gives us a real boost and helps us to continue changing lives across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Essex.”

McCarthy Stone’s Sales Consultant, Brooke Amos added: “As a company, we appreciate our responsibilities go further than building quality retirement apartments, and we also seek to create a positive legacy in the towns and cities in which we build.

“We were delighted to present this donation to the Welwyn Garden City Mobility Team. The donation is important to the team at Goldwyn House, not least because the development has been designed with the blind and partially sighted in mind.”

“The charity provides a very important service for those living in the local area and beyond, and everyone at McCarthy Stone’s Goldwyn House development wishes The Welwyn Garden City Mobility Team every success in their future work.”

McCarthy Stone’s Retirement Living Plus developments offer the over 70s the opportunity to maintain an independent lifestyle, while having access to tailored domestic and personal assistance packages to help them manage their day-to-day lives.

Goldwyn House features a Club Lounge complete with Wi-Fi, which is ideal for socialising with new-found friends; an on-site restaurant providing freshly cooked meals; a guest suite for when residents have visitors to stay; and beautifully maintained gardens.  An Estates Manager takes care of the daily running of the development, while secure entry systems and 24-hour emergency call points provide added peace-of-mind.

The development is within close proximity of a variety of shops and local amenities, offering all of the convenience and comfort of a smaller town but with the added benefit of easy access to the Capital via public transport.
