Member of Parliament and local Mayor join residents for official ribbon cutting.
New homeowners, alongside Member of Parliament for Gedling Michael Payne MP and Mayor of Gedling, Councillor Kyle Robinson-Payne, came together to celebrate the official opening of Davison House, a new residential community in Daybrook designed to support independence, connection and everyday ease.
The opening celebrations marked the completion of a development created to feel part of Daybrook from day one, bringing together new residents, the construction and management teams, and local representatives to recognise its contribution to the area.
Guests enjoyed light refreshments and live music from Beverley Stone during the celebrations at the Mansfield Road development in Daybrook. The local Member of Parliament, Michael Payne MP, and the Mayor of Gedling, Councillor Kyle Robinson-Payne, were the guests of honour, officially opening the development with a ribbon cutting and unveiling a commemorative plaque, followed by informal celebrations with residents and guests. The McCarthy & Stone team were on hand to show the MP, Mayor and guests around the show apartments and shared spaces, highlighting the thoughtful design features intended to support confident, independent living.
Homes at Davison House are available through McCarthy & Stone’s Home Buyers Help Shared Ownership scheme, delivered in partnership with Homes England, widening access to independent living in Nottingham and enabling more local people to plan positively for their next chapter without leaving the city. The apartments have been designed for comfort and ease, with ground-floor patios or Juliet balconies offering private outdoor space.
Commenting on the event, MP for Gedling Michael Payne MP said:
I was so impressed with the quality and finish of Davison House – it is ideal for people looking to remain independent in the Daybrook community. The fact that it is offered entirely through shared ownership will also mean that more local residents in my constituency and the wider area can consider a move, which is fantastic. We need more of these sorts of initiatives in locations like Daybrook that have established communities and amenities, so I was delighted to support its opening and meet the team and new residents.
Davison House is a development of 51 one- and two-bedroom apartments, thoughtfully designed to encourage everyday ease and neighbourly support. Private homes sit alongside shared spaces that bring people together, including a welcoming lounge and landscaped gardens that provide space for informal gatherings, clubs and community-led activities.
The first homeowners have already moved in and are beginning to shape the social life of the community, with regular gatherings and shared activities planned in the coming weeks. A number of homes have already been reserved, reflecting early interest from local people planning their next move within the area.
Commenting on his visit, Mayor of Gedling Councillor Kyle Robinson-Payne said:
It was a pleasure to join the opening of Davison House and talk with a number of happy residents and enthusiastic staff. Communities like this are hugely valuable – supporting independence while fostering connection, confidence and a strong sense of community. It’s great to see this site in the heart of Daybrook being used to benefit local residents and the community as a whole.
Beyond providing new homes, the development has already made a meaningful contribution to the local economy. The construction phase supported regional contractors and suppliers, creating jobs and investment in the area. Ongoing roles within the community - from management to hospitality and maintenance — will continue to generate employment opportunities locally.
Karen Christopher, Area Sales Manager, at McCarthy & Stone, commented:
Davison House has been created to feel like a natural part of Daybrook from day one. It’s about giving people the confidence to remain independent while staying connected to the community they value. We’re proud to see it open its doors and begin welcoming homeowners.
For added peace of mind, a House Manager will be on-site during office hours to oversee the day-to-day running of the development, while a 24/7 emergency call system and camera entry system in each apartment will help homeowners feel safe and secure.
McCarthy & Stone holds an industry-leading 4.7 out of 5 rating from more than 4,000 reviews and is officially rated “Excellent” on Trustpilot.
