McCarthy Stone, the housebuilder behind the Retirement Living development, The Boathouse, on Cobden Avenue, has donated £500 to local school, Bitterne Park Primary School.
The donation helped to fund the school’s new green space - a section of the local park behind the school, which has been dedicated primarily to the education of pupils at Bitterne Park Primary, as well as key community use so that they can enjoy the park in a safe environment. The donation specifically contributed to two picnic benches which the children can use to enjoy the sunshine at lunchtime.
The children were incredibly excited to begin enjoying the new space away from risks such as dogs and litter, which previously made the park unsafe to play in at times. The space will also be open to local community clubs such as church groups and local fitness clubs, to benefit from; and who can contact the school to book the space.
Headteacher of Bitterne Park Primary School, Gerida Montague, was presented with the cheque for £500 by Katrina Andrews, Sales Executive for McCarthy Stone.
Gerida Montague, commented: “The children are delighted with their new safe space and very excited to enjoy lessons and playtime outdoors. We are grateful to McCarthy Stone for their donation, which will help us on our way to achieving our goals for the children here at Bitterne Park Primary School.”
Nicki Beswarick, Marketing Manager for McCarthy Stone Southern, said: “We are thrilled to be able to assist Primary School in their work to provide their pupils with a safe green space in which to learn and play. It has been a pleasure to be able to donate £500 to such an incredibly worthwhile cause in the local area.”
