Things to do in Warsash

At the mouth of the River Hamble, the village of Warsash on the outskirts of Southampton is a mecca for boating enthusiasts, with Warsash Sailing Club holding sailing sessions, lessons, regattas and socials. In fact since its inception as a fishing village specialising in lobster and crab and its later history as a shipbuilding powerhouse, Warsash has reinvented itself as one of the most popular centres for sailing in the UK. This means that the waterfront is always a hive of activity. Its lively pub, The Rising Sun, has a 200-year heritage and a lovely location on the riverbank.
The village has a strong community spirit reflected in the many clubs available, including Warsash Art Group, The University of the Third Age and Warsash Horticultural Society. Many of these are found at Warsash Victory Hall.  

For a change of scene, the Hamble to Warsash Ferry – running since 1493  – will take you to the picturesque village of Hamble-le-Rice which has a quiet pretty beach as well as good choice of pubs and restaurants.  

Ramblers will enjoy the relatively easy and very beautiful coastal path walk between Warsash and Lee-on-Solent which can be completed in around two and a half hours. 

Warsash is also within easy access of central Southampton which offers award-winning museums, art galleries and theatres, like the attractive 1930s Mayflower Theatre and SeaCity Museum which documents the history of the Titanic and more.
