Things to do in Sunningdale, Berkshire

With Windsor Great Park – incorporating Virginia Water Lake, the Long Walk and Deer Park and several splendid gardens, on the one hand, and Chobham Common on the other, Sunningdale is in a truly delightful location. Ascot racecourse is nearby and the world-class Sunningdale Golf Club is integral to the village. Sunningdale Ladies’ Golf Club is the oldest in the country.

Did you know? Agatha Christie lived on Devenish Road in Sunningdale in the 1920s and then moved to Styles in Charters Road, which was named after her first mystery novels. It was from this house that she herself mysteriously disappeared for eleven days before being discovered at the Harrogate Hydro. Sunningdale Golf Course features in one of her short stories, Tommy and Tuppence Beresford’s ‘The Sunningdale Mystery,’ originally published as part of ‘Partners in Crime’ in 1929.

The retirement development’s location on London road offers excellent transport links. Virginia Water Lake is a six minute drive from the development, Sunningdale Golf Course is 2 mins away by road and you can be in Reading in around half an hour.  The development is close to two bus stops with regular buses to places like Ascot and Windsor as well as more local destinations, including the station. Sunningdale train station is approximately 0.5 miles away from the apartments with regular services to London Waterloo (52 minutes) and Richmond (32 minutes).
