Living in Woodhall Spa

The village of Woodhall Spa has historic links to the Dambusters due to the airfield which was built in 1941.  The Petwood Hotel served as a military hospital for injured soldiers during the Great War, but it is best known as the home of the legendary 617 “Dambusters” Squadron in WW2.

It was here that the 617 Squadron were stationed and took flight on their mission to sink the Tirpitz. Today the Dambusters Memorial and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitors Centre in Woodhall Spa commemorate the Squadron. You can also learn more at the Woodhall Spa Cottage Museum.
