Retire to Beccles

On the Suffolk/Norfolk border and on the southern edge of the Norfolk Broads, Beccles is a historic market town with a picture-perfect setting on the banks of the River Waveney.

Local retirees love:

• Amenities, with a comprehensive mix of supermarkets and big brand stores plus thriving independents from bookshops to bakeries, a Friday market and an impressive range of pubs, cafés and restaurants.
• An active retirement with kayaking and boating on the River Waveney and walking and cycling on the Beccles Marsh Trail. There’s also leisure opportunities at the Beccles Lido, Beccles Town Bowls Club and Beccles Golf Club.
• A strong community with a friendly local U3A – with interest groups from historic walks to jazz – and events like the annual duck race and carnival weekend.
