Merchant Gate is Officially Opened by Lord Provost

There was cause for celebration last week as Lord Provost, Philip Braat, paid a visit to officially open Merchants Gate.

The Lord Provost performed a ribbon cutting ceremony joined by the McCarthy Stone team at the Retirement Living development on Springkell Avenue.

The Lord Provost, said: “I was delighted to be invited to officially open Merchants Gate and given the opportunity to speak to the residents.”

Declan Fishwick, Marketing Executive for the North Division for McCarthy Stone, said: “We were thrilled to welcome the Lord Provost to celebrate the opening of Merchants Gate.

“For many of us, lockdown has made us reassess our housing needs, and so we are seeing more retirees deciding to downsize. The low maintenance living available at Merchants Gate allows our residents to stay independent for longer, but with the added safety and security that being part of a thriving community affords.”
