McCarthy Stone, the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities, has announced its new Retirement Living development, on Sewardstone Road in Waltham Abbey, has been named Lionheart Court in honour of King Richard I.
Known as Lionheart, King Richard I regularly visited the Royal Forest of Waltham to hunt but more notably, granted Waltham Abbey a Charter to hold markets and fairs. The Charter Market has continued to this day on Tuesdays and Saturdays, making it of significant historical value to Waltham Abbey.
Julie Ward, National Sales Director for McCarthy Stone, commented, said: “We are extremely proud to honour King Richard I and the Charter Market, by naming our new Waltham Abbey development after him. We wanted to choose a name for our new Waltham Abbey development that is not only meaningful, but would also resonate with local people and future McCarthy Stone homeowners.”
Once complete, Lionheart Court will comprise 52 luxury Retirement Living apartments for the over 60s and will offer retirees the opportunity to downsize and maintain an active, independent lifestyle, surrounded by like-minded individuals.
Lionheart Court will be available to reserve off-plan in Autumn 2020 and first occupants are expected in Spring 2021. A CGI has today been released to show how the development will look once complete.
The development will feature a communal lounge; ideal for socialising with friends; landscaped gardens in which to relax; and a comfortable guest suite, should residents have friends or relatives to stay. A dedicated House Manager will take care of the day-to-day running of the development; while a secure entry system and 24-hour emergency call points will provide added peace-of-mind.
Located in the traditional market town of Waltham Abbey, McCarthy Stone homeowners will be able to benefit from an extensive range of shops, restaurants and essential amenities. For those who enjoy the outdoors, the development boasts a close location to Lee Valley Country Park and Epping Forest.
