McCarthy & Stone’s donation will help to transform a neglected green space
The McCarthy & Stone Foundation and the team behind Webb Grange, a new over 60s Retirement Living community offering Shared Ownership in Telford, Shropshire, made the donation to this Wellbeing Café to support its plans to create a new memory garden.
A community garden to remember
The project aims to brighten up the area outside the Hummingbird Café by incorporating memorials dedicated to much-loved individuals from Telford and changing a neglected green space into a tranquil area for those living locally. The donation will go towards essentials such as planting, labour and a pergola or bench seating, ensuring the space becomes a welcoming environment for reflection.
Wayne Jenson, CEO at Telford Wellbeing Cafe, says “Our memory garden project is something we are really passionate about—it will give purpose to an underutilised green space and create a special place for our community to come together, remember, and reflect. Contributions like this make a real difference in helping us bring this vision to life. We are incredibly grateful to the McCarthy & Stone Foundation for this generous donation.”
Declan Fishwick, Business Development Manager at McCarthy & Stone, added, “Supporting the communities close to our developments is a key focus at McCarthy & Stone and we are delighted, in partnership with the McCarthy & Stone Foundation, to lend a helping hand to the Telford Wellbeing Cafe. It was great to get a better understanding of all the fantastic work the café is doing.”
