The historic centre is easily accessed from our retirement homes in Romsey and there are plenty of amenities throughout the town.

• Groceries  
  Choose from several major supermarkets, including Aldi, Waitrose, Co-op, and Sainsbury’s Local. There are markets selling local produce several days a week too.
• Shopping
  Romsey is home to a mix of high-street shops and independent stores including Bradbeers Department Store which sells everything from homewares to clothing. For a bigger range try the shopping centres in nearby Southampton. 
• Healthcare 
  Romsey Hospital provides in and outpatient services and minor injury care. For emergency and specialist care, Southampton General Hospital is about 20 minutes away. There are several GPs to choose from, including Abbeywell Surgery. There are pharmacies, opticians and dentists in Romsey too. 

Romsey has plenty of attractions whether you’re after day trips or nights out, including: 

• Romsey Abbey
  This Norman abbey was built during the 10th century and still hosts events today. Immaculate gardens add to its charm and are ideal for leisurely walks.

  Abbotswood and Fishlake Meadows are both close to our retirement homes in Romsey offering beautiful spots for wildlife spotting. Or stroll beside the River Test for lovely scenery on the edge of town. 
• Romsey War Memorial Park 
  A lush green space with flower gardens, seating areas and easy walking paths. 
• King John’s House & Heritage Centre 
  This small museum is the perfect place to learn local history. 
• Plaza Theatre 
  Visit this community-run theatre to see live performances, plays and concerts.

There are lots of opportunities for socialising and leisure activities close to our retirement property in Romsey.

• Socialising 
  Romsey has a strong sense of community, with plenty of spaces to meet new people. Abbotswood Community Centre puts on activities from ‘knit and natter’ to line dancing. Men’s Shed Romsey is dedicated to retirement hobbies for men. 
• Food and drink 
  Romsey has a mix of excellent pubs, cafés, and restaurants catering to all tastes. Popular choices include The White Horse Hotel, a historic coaching inn offering fine dining or the cosy French bistro, La Parisienne. 
• Sports and leisure 
  There are plenty of options for an active retirement including Romsey Golf Club, The Romsey Bowling Club, Romsey & Abbey Tennis Club and Romsey Rapids Leisure Centre.

Romsey is conveniently located to make it easy to access larger towns and cities across Hampshire and the wider South East.

• By car 
  Reach Southampton and Portsmouth on the M27, Andover and Winchester on the A3057, and Salisbury and the west on the A36. 
• By bus 
  Romsey is well-served by bus services, providing access to both local areas and towns further afield. Stagecoach runs the service between Romsey and Winchester. During the summer, there’s a free bus to Romsey Train Station. 
• By rail 
  Romsey Railway Station offers direct services to locations including Portsmouth, Salisbury, and Cardiff. A quick 15-minute direct train journey to Southampton leads to connections to London.
• By air 
  Southampton International Airport is just 10 miles away.
