McCarthy Stone Donation Boost for Buntingford Bowls Club
Located on Wyddial Road, Buntingford Bowls Club has an enviable reputation as a successful club – at both County and National level – and a rich history dating back nearly 100 years. With members aged from seven to their late eighties, the club plays an important role in community life and has excellent facilities, both for playing and for those who want to enjoy the social side of the sport.
With the funds from McCarthy Stone, Buntingford Bowls Club are planning to purchase new tools and equipment that support with the maintenance of the bowls green and surrounds.
Mark Plume, Sponsorship and Development Manager at Buntingford Bowls Club, commented: “We are delighted to have secured the support of McCarthy Stone. This donation comes at a key time in the club’s history as we start the planning and preparation for our centenary year in 2022. We have some exciting events and initiatives in mind to commemorate this milestone, and everyone at the club is looking forward positively to the celebrations.
“Of course, Covid-19 impacted the 2020 lawn bowls season and we are all awaiting the day we can enjoy a return to the green and safely welcome our members back to the club. Hopefully, we will get to bring everyone together sooner rather than later and the donation from McCarthy Stone has given us all a much-needed boost in the meantime.”
Julie Ward, National Sales Director at McCarthy Stone, added: “An important part of what we do here at McCarthy Stone is to support local activities and initiatives in the towns and communities in which we build – to help create a lasting, positive legacy. Now more than ever, this is incredibly important, with clubs such as Buntingford Bowls Club unable to operate as normal due to the current restrictions and facing unprecedented challenges when it comes to bringing the community together.
“We hope our donation will raise the spirits of its members during these difficult times and all of us here at McCarthy Stone in Buntingford wish the club every success for the future.”
