Bringing Assisted Living To Scotland & Wales
Assisted Living takes to wider reaches!
With new developments opening in Cardiff and Glasgow this year, McCarthy Stone will be bringing Assisted Living to homeowners in Wales and Scotland for the first time.
Perhaps this is long overdue. Many people are aware that the United Kingdom has a rapidly ageing population, the 2011 census revealed that there are more than 9 million people over 65 in the UK and this is set to grow rapidly over the next 20 years. But, what is less well known is that England is actually set to be the least ‘aged’ of the four UK countries.
By 2035, Scotland will have the highest average age in the UK and Wales is projected to have the highest proportion of older people in its population.
In fact, the number of people aged over 65 in Wales is set to reach more than 860,000 by 2035, according to latest official projections. This would be more than 1 in 3 people in Wales and is the equivalent of the current combined populations for the whole of Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham! Our new Assisted Living (Extra Care) developments will give older people in Wales and Scotland a better choice of housing in later life; helping them to live happier, healthier and longer lives.
Assisted Living is about more than just help with a wide range of daily tasks; it’s about the flexibility of being able to choose the care you need, the convenience of having a friendly on-site team, 24hrs a day, who can quickly respond to your needs and the reassurance of care being provided by people you know.
Since 2010 we have teamed-up with Somerset Care Group, a large and very experienced not-for-profit care company, to help deliver our Assisted Living developments across the UK, providing residents with a range of flexible personal care and support services in their own home.
