Education Story Competition Terms & Conditions

The Promoter is McCarthy & Stone Retirement Lifestyles Limited of 100 Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth, Dorset BH8 8AQ.
Entry is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 or over. By entering this competition, a participant agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.
The competition opens at 12.00pm (UK time) on Monday 7 September 2026 and closes at 11.59pm (UK time) on Friday 25 September 2026. Entries received before or after this period will not be accepted.
To enter, participants must comment on the relevant competition post on Facebook or Instagram with their favourite school, college or university memory and tag someone who was part of it. No purchase is necessary.
The Promoter reserves the right to reject any entry that is incomplete, illegible, unlawful, offensive, inappropriate, contains third-party intellectual property without permission, includes identifiable individuals without appropriate consent, or otherwise does not comply with these terms and conditions.
There will be three winners. The first-prize winner will receive a £100 Dining Out voucher, the second-prize winner will receive a £65 Dining Out voucher and the third-prize winner will receive a £35 Dining Out voucher. Each prize is non-transferable and non-refundable, and no cash alternative is available.
All eligible entries will be reviewed by the Promoter. Entries will be assessed against criteria including creativity, relevance to the competition theme, suitability for sharing on the Promoter’s social media channels and alignment with the Promoter’s brand.
The three winners will be selected by the Promoter from all eligible entries. The Promoter’s decision shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
The winners will be notified by direct message from the Promoter’s official social media account within 5 to 7 working days after the closing date. The Promoter will ask each winner to provide an email address to send their e-voucher to. The Promoter will not contact winners from any other account or request payment or financial information.
If a winner does not respond to the Promoter’s notification within a reasonable period, or is unable to accept the prize, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner from the remaining eligible entries.
The winners may be announced on the Promoter’s website or social media channels, and the winning stories may be shared on the Promoter’s social media channels, subject to the Promoter’s discretion and applicable data protection laws.
By submitting an entry, participants confirm that the entry is their own original work, that they have permission to include any third-party content or personal information contained in it, and that they grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use, reproduce and share the entry for the purposes of administering and promoting the competition.
The Promoter may share entries on its social media channels during and after the competition to promote engagement and celebrate the excitement of new starts.
The Promoter is not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected, incomplete or cannot be submitted due to technical issues, account privacy settings, platform restrictions or any other reason beyond the Promoter’s reasonable control.
Personal data submitted or made available in connection with this competition, including participants' names, social media handles, direct message details, email addresses provided by winners and any data made available via the participant's Meta account, will be used only for the proper administration and promotion of the competition, including verifying entries, contacting the winners, announcing or sharing winning entries and arranging delivery of the prizes. Email addresses will be used only to deliver the prizes.
Personal data will be processed in accordance with the Promoter’s privacy and cookies policy, which explains how personal data is used, the legal basis for processing, and participant’s rights under applicable data protection laws.
