Beesons House, a new McCarthy & Stone Retirement Living community, was officially opened in Rickmansworth yesterday, giving prospective residents and the local community a preview of its stylish apartments and warm communal spaces.
Chair of Three Rivers District Council, Cllr Keith Martin, officially opened the property with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Beesons House boasts 43 beautifully designed one and two-bedroom apartments, a communal lounge, guest suite and fully maintained landscaped gardens equipped with raised beds and a potting shed.

Commenting on the grand opening, Cllr Martin said: I was delighted to attend the grand opening of Beesons House, having followed its progression over recent months. I have no doubt that the new community forming here will be a wonderful addition to Rickmansworth, and I wish all the residents and staff very best wishes as they settle in.
The ribbon cutting was followed by a specially curated cinnamon bun demonstration run by award-winning baking star Paul Barker, owner of the local and much-loved Cinnamon Square bakery.

Paul played an influential role in the early development of the renowned series, The Great British Bake Off, creating the idea for the fan-favourite ‘technical challenge’. Guests were treated to an interactive masterclass, seeing Paul’s techniques in action, before they were invited to ice their own buns and take-part in a lively Q&A. The event offered just a taste of the community spirit and sociable lifestyle that homeowners at Beesons House can look forward to.
Paul Barker of Cinnamon Square bakery said: It was a real pleasure to help welcome guests to Beesons House - and what better way to celebrate a new beginning than with a Cinnamon Square bun, which is synonymous with Rickmansworth. Rickmansworth has a wonderfully warm family feel, and it was fantastic to see that same sense of community and fun already taking shape here. I hope everyone enjoyed getting creative with their frosting and, most importantly, eating the results!
Beautifully designed private apartments are complemented by communal spaces and the reassurance of a dedicated on-site team, helping homeowners feel secure, supported and part of a thriving community on their doorstep.
For added peace of mind, a House Manager will be on-site during office hours to oversee the day-to-day running of the development, while a 24/7 emergency call system and camera entry system in each apartment will help homeowners feel safe and secure.
The opening brings an exciting new choice for later life living in Rickmansworth, providing homeowners the opportunity to enjoy a vibrant community in a home designed around their changing needs.

Rebecca Johnson, Group Sales and Marketing Director at McCarthy & Stone, said: We are delighted to welcome prospective homeowners to Beesons House as they begin an exciting new chapter in Rickmansworth. The opening celebration gave guests a wonderful insight into the active, sociable lifestyle the development has been created to provide, and Paul’s cinnamon bun masterclass made the occasion especially memorable. We look forward to seeing this new community flourish and become a valued part of local life.
