A McCarthy & Stone competition to recognise and reward inspirational people aged 60+.

By entering the promotion (the “Promotion”) you (the “participant”) agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. Any information or instructions published by the Promoter about the Promotion on www.mccarthyandstone.co.uk, www.facebook.com/mccarthystone and www.twitter.com/mccarthystone form part of these terms and conditions.

The Promoter

The Promoter of this Promotion is McCarthy & Stone Retirement Lifestyles Ltd (4th Floor, 100 Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth, Dorset, BH8 8AQ), and the Promoter shall not be liable for any interruption to this Promotion whether due to force majeure or other factors beyond the Promoter’s control.

Entry eligibility

  1. The Promotion is open to residents of Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) aged 60+
  2. Employees or agents of the Promoter or any of their group companies, or their families or households or anyone professionally connected to this Promotion are not eligible to enter.

How to enter & the deadline for entries

  1. Entries will be accepted from Wednesday 17th January, 2018.
  2. The closing date for entries is 00:01 on Sunday 1st April, 2018. Entries received after the Competition Period will not be eligible for entry.
  3. Entries can be made by people nominating themselves or being nominated by another member of the public. Entrants should either (1) collect an entry form from a participating McCarthy & Stone development or (2) download the entry form from the McCarthy & Stone website – www.mccarthyandstone.co.uk/inspirational. Entries can be made in the following ways: (1) completing and submitting the entry form online, (2) completing the entry form and placing it in a competition entry box within a participating McCarthy & Stone development (3) posting the entry form to Inspirational Generation competition, C/O McCann, Highlands Road, Shirley, Solihull, B90 4WE or (4) completing the entry form and emailing to mccarthyandstone@mccann.com.
  4. Participants may only enter once. Duplicate Entries will be removed from the Competition.
  5. This Promotion is only available to consumers (e.g. not to any business or reseller). Bulk entries made from trade, consumer groups or third parties will not be accepted. If it becomes apparent that a participant is using a computer(s) to circumvent this condition by, for example, the use of ‘script’, ‘brute force’ or any other automated means, that person’s entries will be disqualified and any prize award will be void.
  6. No responsibility is accepted by the Promoter for lost, delayed or damaged data which occurs during any communication or transmission of entries.

The prize

  1. Entry forms will be judged by the Promoter and the best entries (in the judge’s sole discretion) will be called for a telephone interview between 2nd April - 16 April, 2018. The regions are as follows: Southern, South East, South West, North London, East Midlands, West Midlands, North West, North East, and Scotland.
  2. Following the interview, three entries per region will be selected as finalists for that region (as detailed in point 9) and then their entry forms will be reviewed by a panel of judges between 4 June – 12 June 2018. From these, the judges will select nine regional winners (one for each region as detailed in point 9), one of which will also be named as the overall national winner.
  3. The prizes are as follows: the nine regional winners will each receive a cheque for £200 for them to donate to a charity of their choice, plus a hamper worth £50 RRP. The one overall national winner will then also receive a cheque for £2000 to be used as they wish.
  4. The winning participants will be contacted [between 12 June – 16 June, 2018] by email/ telephone provided by the participant at the time of entry. The winners will have 14 days from the date the notification was sent to claim their prize.
  5. In the event that a winner is unreachable, ineligible, or fails to claim the prize in the time required the winner shall forfeit their prize and the Promoter reserves the right to offer the prize to any other participant of the Promotion.
  6. The Promoter’s announcement of the winning entrant is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The prize is not transferable to another individual. Any transfer of the prize by the winner will result in immediate disqualification. The prize must be returned to the Promoter and the Promoter reserves the right to offer the prize to another participant.
  7. The Promoter reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value.
  8. Prizes will be posted to the winner by first class post.
  9. The Provider gives no guarantee in relation to this Promotion, and cannot be held liable for any injury, loss or damage of any kind arising from a winner’s (and where applicable, guest’s) use of the prize.
  10. The Promoter reserves the right to publish the names and towns of residence of all winners.
  11. By accepting the prize, the winner: a) Agrees to take part in media interviews including but not limited to magazine, television and radio interviews; b) Agrees to be photographed by the Promoter for the purposes of promoting the Promotion and the Promoter’s products; and c) Agrees to participate in the Promoter’s other non-paid publicity (including photography, national and regional advertising campaigns and social media, national and regional media relations if required) relating to the competition.
  12. All winners take part in the prize at their own risk and to the fullest extent possible in law the Promoter accepts no liability with regard to such prizes whatsoever. The Promoter will have no liability in relation to the conduct of the winner or their guest, nor in connection with any circumstances outside its control with respect to the prize once delivered to the winner. All winners are subject to the policies and Terms and Conditions of any and all third parties involved in the fulfilment of this prize. Any terms and conditions applicable to the prizes have been provided to the fullest extent possible.
  13. The Promoter reserves the rights to vary these terms and conditions or cancel the Promotion at any stage in the event of circumstances arising beyond its control.
  14. By entering the Promotion, entrants will be deemed to be bound by and have accepted these terms and conditions.


  1. The Promoter reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to disqualify participants who it considers to have not complied with any of these terms and conditions; or any participant who it reasonably believes has interfered with the fair running of this Promotion.
  2. The Promoter shall have the right, where necessary, to undertake all such action as is reasonable to protect itself against fraudulent or invalid claims and entries including, without limitation, to require further verification as to the identity, age and other relevant details of an entrant or claimant and before accepting a claim or entry as being valid.

Privacy and data protection

  1. The Promoter may use and share with McCann any personal information submitted by the participant in the proper administration of this competition. The participant hereby consents to such personal information being used for this purpose and confirms that it agrees with the Promoter’s privacy policy available at www.mccarthyandstone.co.uk. The participant may withdraw consent to such use of personal information by writing to the Promoter or by using the opt-out process outlined in the Promoter’s privacy policy.
  2. Other than as set out in these terms and conditions or for the purposes of operating the Promotion, the details and information provided by the participant when entering the Promotion or claiming a prize will not be used for any promotional purpose, nor shall they be passed to any third party unless the participant has actively opted-in to such by expressing their communication preferences via the entry form.

Jurisdiction/applicable law

  1. This competition will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. By participating the participants agree that any and all disputes regarding this competition will be subject to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
