Wine tasting event goes down a treat with locals at Eaton's new retirement community
Homeowners and guests at a retirement community in Eaton were given a taste of the high life during an immersive wine-tasting experience co-hosted by Suffolk brewery, Adnams.

The sophisticated soiree saw wine enthusiasts and sip seekers raise their glasses at Strawberry Hill Gardens, a McCarthy Stone Retirement Living development on Bluebell Road, and sample a selection of delicious wines produced by the award-winning distillery in Southwold.
Recently named East Anglia’s Best Independent Wine Merchant , experts from Adnams also shed light on how the wines are made and the ingredients used in crafting some of the guests’ favourite tipples.
With Google searches for ‘wine tasting Norwich’ increasing by more than 5,000% in the last 30 days alone, according to Google Trends, there is clearly a demand for this style of event in the area.
Jim Smith, Store Manager of the Norwich Store, comments: “It was a pleasure to join homeowners, along with their friends and family, at Strawberry Hill Gardens and treat them to what we believe are some of the best wines in the world. Wine tasting events are a fun and interactive way to encourage guests to try new flavours, learn how different varieties are made, and become somewhat of an expert in wine pairing. All the guests showed real enthusiasm and it’s fair to say they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.”
David Meachem, Divisional Sales Director at McCarthy Stone, says: “Our wine tasting event is just one example of a series of events taking place at Strawberry Hill Gardens and other McCarthy Stone developments across the country. They’re a fantastic way of bringing the community closer together, as well as giving visitors a first-hand experience of the vibrant lifestyle we offer.
“Establishing strong relationships with groups and businesses within the local communities is a key focus at McCarthy Stone. Therefore, we’re delighted to have had the opportunity to work with Adnams, who did a fantastic job of entertaining guests and creating what was quite clearly a very memorable experience.”
