Dorset’s Trailway Artist brings artistic flair to Stour Gate!
The homeowners of Stour Gate recently gave a warm welcome to a local artist known as ‘The Trailway Artist’.

Pete Blanchard paid a special visit to Stour Gate last week, where he impressed homeowners and guests with his live painting of the Stour Meadows, which has received a Green Flag Award in recognition for being one of the best green spaces in the country.
During his visit, Pete chatted to guests about his work which draws inspiration from rural Dorset, particularly views of the discontinued Somerset & Dorset Railway Line (known as the Trailway) and is brought to life using a combination of different materials, including acrylics, ink, charcoal, and pastels.
Local retirees also used the opportunity to take a tour of the brand-new show apartment at the Stour Gate development, while getting to know those who are proud to already call it home.
Reflecting on his visit, Pete comments: “It was a pleasure to be invited to Stour Gate to meet homeowners and their guests and share my love of painting with them. I was really impressed by their level of enthusiasm. Art is incredibly therapeutic and offers a whole host of other benefits that can help to enrich people’s quality of life, which is why I’d encourage anyone to give it a go.”
Verity McKay, Divisional Marketing Manager for McCarthy Stone, adds: “On behalf of everyone at Stour Gate, we want to thank Pete for coming along and creating a beautiful landscape of Stour Meadows.
“At McCarthy Stone, we recognise the benefits of hobbies, which is why we offer a range of activities tailored to our homeowners’ interests, from knitting and gardening to film nights and themed lunches, to encourage them to make the most of their retirement.”
