Living in Stirling
From the excellent eateries, superb shopping and diverse arts and cultural offerings of the city centre to the enchanting historic Old Town, there?s truly something for everyone in Stirling. One of Scotland?s most distinctive landmarks, the Wallace Monument boasts stunning views across Stirling and overlooks the setting of Scotland?s renowned victory at the Battle of Stirling Bridge. Wander around fascinating exhibits and displays following the life and story of one of Scotland?s most famous sons, Sir William Wallace.
Sitting atop an extinct volcano, Stirling Castle is one of Scotland?s most popular visitor attractions, and it?s easy to see why. Magnificently preserved and restored, take an audio guide tour of this site of historical importance. Catch glimpses into the lives of the Scottish kings and queens of the past, including one of its most famous inhabitants, Mary Queen of Scots. Built between 1724 and 1791, the Back Walk (whose entrance sits opposite our development site) is the oldest publicly maintained road in Scotland. Rising uphill to the castle then running around the base of Castle Rock and back up to the Old Town, it is regarded as one of Europe?s finest urban walkways. Take in marvellous views while walking this path or relaxing on the plentiful seating provided along the way.
And with Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park less than half an hour away by car, you couldn?t ask for a better opportunity to spend more time in the great outdoors. Boasting some of Scotland?s most dramatic and inspirational scenery, and being home to an abundance of wildlife, it truly is an awe-inspiring place to visit. From walking and cycling to water sports and fishing, you?ll find a wealth of outdoor activities on and around the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.
