Things to do in Preston, Lancashire

Preston is a thriving and friendly town on the banks of the Ribble River. It’s packed with a surprising range of amenities for a small town, with shopping centres, museums and art galleries — Harris Museum & Art Gallery shows fine arts and archaeology, Lancashire Infantry Museum explores local military history and Ribble Steam Railway has rides on restored trains as well as a museum—health services, cinemas, libraries, a guildhall for concerts and the impressive football grounds at Deepdale Stadium. The town also has a tempting array of independent pubs, restaurants and cafes. Alternatively you can fill up on the legendary regional delicacy, Butter Pie, at local bakeries and pie shops. 

Preston is surrounded by parks and green spaces. Guild Wheel walking and cycling path runs through Avenham and Miller Parks beside the River Ribble. Brockholes offers a lovely wetland and woodland nature reserve with a floating visitor centre, plus there a many attractive golf clubs in the area, with Preston Golf Club being the closest to our retirement properties for sale in Preston.
