A golf club in Stockport has scored an Albatross of a sponsorship deal after securing a three-year deal with a local retirement housebuilder, McCarthy Stone, the developer behind Jessiefield Court in Didsbury, to help develop the club and enhance its member experience, encouraging more people to get into the swing of golfing.
Established in 1892, the club shares a 132-year history with the local community and has become a social hub for both members and non-members alike, with its clubhouse providing panoramic views across the Manchester skyline.
McCarthy Stone, the UK’s leading retirement property developer, has invested a substantial amount of money as part of its commitment to create a positive legacy in the local area and to support the wellbeing of older people, ensuring they are valued, well connected, and engaged with their communities.
The funds provided on behalf of McCarthy Stone’s Jessiefield Court development, will be used to help promote all sections of the Marple Golf Club, but in particular, to aid the junior section which has begun to thrive in recent months, with a number of talented future golfers beginning to come through the ranks.
Simon McBride, Marketing Director, at Marple Golf Club said: “Given the current cost-of-living and energy crisis, the cost of running a club and the upkeep of the facilities has seen huge increases. Marple Golf Club has been a prominent part of the local community for well over a century, so it’s great to have the support of McCarthy Stone. Sport is a brilliant way to bring together people of all ages and thanks to the sponsorship deal, we can continue to provide the best member and visitor experience while ensuring the club’s legacy will live on for many years to come.”
Fiona Brooks, Divisional Sales Director for McCarthy Stone, added: “The wellbeing and happiness of older people is at the heart of everything we do, which is why we’re delighted to be partnering with Marple Golf Club, who also recognise the positive impact that sports and hobbies have on people’s wellbeing, especially as we age.
“Golf is a fantastic way to stay active and reduce stress, as well as meet new people and foster a sense of belonging. The club’s strong community spirit reflects that of our own retirement communities, where our superb communal spaces serve as social hubs and ensure residents feel at home from day one. With Marple Golf Club being within easy reach of Jessiefield Court we expect we’ll have a few homeowners who will be making the most of the fantastic golf and clubhouse facilities.”
